A few months after its announcement, the PlayStation Stars loyalty program for PlayStation users is now rolling out. Japan gets it today (alongside the rest of Asia), the Americas will follow on October 5, while Europe and Australia are scheduled to gain access on October 13 (local time, in all cases).

Unveiled back in July 2022, the PlayStation Stars loyalty program for PlayStation users worldwide is now finally live. However, the rollout is not global, since only Asia (including Japan) can use it right now. PlayStation users in the rest of the world will have to wait until next month.

According to Vice President, Network Advertising, Loyalty & Licensed Merchandise at Sony, Grace Chen, this new initiative for the PlayStation community "celebrates our players’ achievements with fun and delightful campaigns and the ability to earn rewards such as points and digital collectibles." She also revealed that new features, rewards, benefits, and ways to enjoy the PlayStation experience will be added to the program in time.

PlayStation Stars is free to join by those who have an adult account for the PlayStation Network and, obviously, agree with the program's ToS. PlayStation Plus membership is not required to join PlayStation Stars but PlayStation Plus members will earn certain benefits. The program is available through the PlayStation app on iOS and Android, but also on the web, via playstation.com. Console devices will be added to the list in the future.

To gain PlayStation Stars rewards, the user needs to complete various activities, for example the "Monthly Check-In" requires to play any game during the month to get a reward. In other cases, specific tasks will be available for completion, such as being among the first players to complete a blockbuster title in their country/region. One of the first campaigns, called "Hit Play/1994," awards a special collectible to those who launch the correct games that match song-based clues.

The two categories of rewards are loyalty points and digital collectibles. The points can be converted to PSN wallet funds, select PlayStation Store products, as well as exclusive digital collectibles. The additional benefit for PlayStation Plus members consists of automatically-earned points for purchases on the PlayStation Store.

For now, digital collectibles cannot be sold or traded. At launch, all members who join will receive the Star Gazer Telescope. PlayStation Stars members will be able to rank up from level one to level four, and the higher they get, the more perks and benefits they receive. Once reached, a superior status remains valid for the rest of the calendar year, plus an additional 13 months.

North and South America will get access to PlayStation Stars on October 5, while Europe, Australia, and New Zealand will join the rest of the world on October 13 (for all these areas, the local time applies).
