The latest high-speed camera from Phantom can record slow-motion videos with up to 483,330 frames per second. The company relies on a powerful 280-watt PSU as well as 256GB of memory and an extremely quick 1MP sensor.

The T2110 is the new entry-level model in the T-series, which is still capable of an extremely high frame rate. The central component of the Phantom high-speed camera is a 12-bit BSI sensor with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. At full resolution, videos can be recorded with a frame rate of up to 21,000 fps, which is an 875x slow motion when the clip is played at 24 frames per second.

The sensor supports both color, black-and-white and ultraviolet modes. At 9.3 x 5.8 inches, this sensor is slightly smaller than an APS-C sensor. Using pixel binning to reduce the resolution to 640 x 384 pixels or lower, the camera can capture even higher frame rates of up to 483,330 frames per second, which is equivalent to 20,138x slow motion. At this frame rate, the camera records 21 gigapixels per second. In order to handle this amount of data, the Phantom T2110 can be equipped with 32GB to 256GB of RAM, which comes in handy before the video files are eventually stored on a CineMag V.

These SSDs are available with 2TB or 8TB of capacity and can handle up to 1.4 gigapixels per second, which means that one second of slow-motion video takes 15 seconds to be stored on the SSD. Phantom’s high-speed camera ships with a standard Nikon F-mount, but Canon EF, PL, C and M42 mounts are available as alternatives.

Price and availability

Phantom generally does not make the pricing and launch dates of its cameras public. Videographers who are interested in the new T2110 slow-motion camera can reach out to the manufacturer via its official website.
