The manufacturer promises compatibility with PlayStation 4 and Xbox gaming consoles, PCs, laptops, and Macs. The drive itself will be protected by a shock-absorbing aluminum chassis for improved durability.
Allen Ngo,

External USB drives based on M.2 SSDs are becoming more popular as of late. After having reviewed the StarTech M.2 NVMe enclosure, Patriot is now ready to launch its PXD M.2 PCIe Type-C External SSD in capacities ranging from 512 GB up to 2 TB.

The PXD drive utilizes a PCIe Gen. 3 x4 controller for transfer rates of up to 1000 MB/s. Though this is only a fraction of what the best NVMe drives are capable of, it's still faster than any 2.5-inch SATA III enclosure that most USB drives are based on. The PXD comes in much smaller and lighter as well at 102.9 x 31.5 x 9.7 mm and 35 g, respectively.

The 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB SKUs can all be found on Amazon albeit with prices still unknown. All options will come with both USB Type-C and USB Type-A cables and a three-year limited warranty.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s. When I'm not managing day-to-day activities and US review articles on Notebookcheck, you can catch me following the eSports scene and the latest gaming news.
