PNY unveils PRO Elite Prime microSD cards and Performance Prime Card Reader with 150MB/s write speeds
PNY has launched the PNY PRO Elite Prime Class 10 U3 V30 A2 microSD lineup of flash memory cards along with the PNY Performance Prime USB 3.2 Gen 1 microSD flash memory card reader.
MicroSD cards have speed ratings that assure buyers they're getting certain minimum sequential data transfer rates no matter what. The original speed rating system used the letter C in front of the abbreviated MB/s transfer rate. For example, C10 cards would deliver a transfer rate of 10MB/s. Later, the faster Ultra High Speed (UHS), Video Speed, and SD Express speed classes were developed. The Video Speed class was developed with 4K and 8K cameras in mind.
The Application Performance class rating gives buyers a minimum random IOPS (input/output operations per second) read and write rates, with a minimum sustained sequential write rate of 10MB/s. The A1 rating ensures 500 IOPS write and 1,500 IOPS read rates, while the A2 rating ensures 2,000 IOPS write and 4,000 IOPS read rates. This rating is most important to Android smartphone users who want good responsiveness when running apps off the cards.
The newly released PNY devices deliver write rates of 150MB/s and read rates of 200MB/s. The U3 V30 A2 microSD card ratings ensure high performance in 4K cameras, action cameras, and smartphones. The USB-A card reader is USB 3.2 Gen 1-compatible (formerly known as USB 3.0).
The PNY PRO Elite Prime microSD cards are available in 64GB to 1.5TB sizes with an MSRP of $30.99 to $109.99. The PNY Performance Prime Card Reader has an MSRP of $12.99. The products will be available soon from the PNY store on Amazon.
