The Orange Pi RV has been a long time coming. So long in fact that Orange Pi started selling the RV2 last month. While one would expect the latter to have replaced the former, Orange Pi has now opened orders for the RV too.
To recap, Orange Pi bases the RV on the StarFive JH7110, a RISC-V based SoC with four CPU cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, a VPU that can encode H.265 videos at up to 1080p/30 FPS and decode H.264 or H.265 videos at up to 4K/60 FPS. On top of that, the JH7110 features an Imagination BXE-4-32 GPU that supports APIs like OpenCL 1.2, OpenGL ES 3.2 and Vulkan 1.2.
Meanwhile the single-board computer (SBC) itself measures 89 x 56 mm and contains standard I/O like a 40-pin GPIO header, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and four USB Type-A ports. As the picture below shows, Orange Pi has also included a MicroSD card slot with an M.2 2280 (M-Key) slot situated next to it. The RV supports Bluetooth 5.0 LE and Wi-Fi 5.0 for which Orange Pi has integrated a single antenna pedestal.
The Orange Pi RV currently starts at $41.99 with 2 GB of RAM on Amazon. Alternatively, Orange Pi sells a 4 GB variant for $52.99. By contrast, the company offers 2 GB and 8 GB options for $30 and $49.90 through AliExpress. Please see Orange Pi's website for more details.
