Oppo will launch the F3 and F3 Plus on March 23
Oppo's upcoming "selfie expert" smartphones, the Oppo F3 and F3 Plus, will launch on March 23. The date was confirmed earlier today in an official message from the Chinese company. Both smartphones will be released in five Southeast Asian markets: India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The five countries were shown in teaser images on a post on Oppo's Facebook page. Interestingly, a photo of New York City was also posted; it suggests an important announcement for the US market is also coming.
The launch date for the Oppo phones is not a complete surprise. Official invites were sent to members of the Philippine press a few days ago, and ads on that country's streets suggested an imminent launch date. A recently-leaked photo—again in the Philippines— revealed the Oppo F3 Plus' specs. They include a 6" FHD screen, Snapdragon 653 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage space, and a dual 16MP/8MP front camera setup along with a 16MP rear camera. According to the leak, the F3 Plus will run on Android 6.0 and will be available in gold and black colors.
Oppo's announcement follows hot on the heels of ZTE's upcoming Nubia unveiling scheduled for March 21. That phone, like other recent smartphones, features a dual rear camera setup. The setup on the new Oppo phones instead resembles the LG V10 or Vivo V5 Plus, which also feature dual front cameras.
