Oppo A97 5G: Details about upcoming mid-range smartphone leak from multiple sources
It seems that Oppo is about to release an A96 successor, six months after announcing the smartphone in China. For context, Oppo announced a global A96 in March with completely different specifications from the Chinese version. Now, Evan Blass and MySmartPrice have showcased the Oppo A97, a 5G smartphone, unlike the global Oppo A96.
As Blass' leaked images show, the Oppo A97 5G will arrive in three colours with two rear-facing cameras and a subtly different design from either Oppo A96 model. Specifically, the Oppo A97 5G has a central punch-hole camera, squared-off edges and a larger camera housing than its predecessors. Incidentally, the Oppo A97 5G has a USB Type-C port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a downward-firing speaker and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Additionally, MySmartPrice alleges that the Oppo A97 has a 6.56-inch display with a 1080p native resolution, a 5,000 mAh battery and at least 8 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage. Supposedly, Oppo will offer the A97 5G with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage too, which will retail for CNY 2,299 (~US$333). For some reason, pricing for the lesser RAM configuration has not leaked yet. A release date has not emerged either, but the device will weigh approximately 190 g while measuring 163.8 x 75.1 x 7.99 mm.
