Update: It seems WarpTen is OnePlus' newest...chocolate. The OEM claims that there are very limited stocks of these logo-shaped candies, which are up for a giveaway on Weibo. They have been created for a special sales event on JD.com, wherein the 6T Midnight Black edition is selling at 200 yuan (about US$30) off its normal price of 3599 yuan (~$536).
OnePlus has added a new post to its official Weibo page. It consists of a message roughly translating to the phrase, "Ready to Charge!" followed by the new hashtag, #WarpTen. The rest of the post suggests that, whatever this is, it will "accelerate" a "debut" taking place on April 1, 2019.
This new social media post also includes a gif showing the term WarpTen being entered into a search bar for some reason. Given that the OEM's latest fast-charging standard is Warp Charge 30, integrated into the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, the teaser may have something to do with its successor. On the other hand, the date mentioned may suggest that this is in fact meant as an April Fool's-themed event.
OnePlus is no stranger to pulling this specific kind of prank: last year, its co-founder, Carl Pei, created a thread introducing the joke cryptocurrency PeiCoin to the world. This year, the OEM has gone so far as to have prepared what may be a red herring for its new seasonal stunt. Pei has also made a newer thread, introducing the concept of Warp Charging for an electric car. He claims that this product will also be announced in the days following April 1. Therefore, one or both (or neither) of OnePlus' new campaigns may be the real deal.
