OLED panels have long been absent from Lenovo's reputable lineup of ThinkPad laptops, but the coveted display technology is slowly making its way into more and more products from the world's largest PC maker. For instance, the new ThinkPad X9 sports a vivid OLED display and is comparatively affordable at the same time.
While Lenovo itself is currently charging slightly over $1,220 for the base model of said ThinkPad X9 14 Aura Edition, the American online retailer CDW has a much better offer on hand. To be more exact, bargain hunters can grab the upper-end configuration with the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V, soldered 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD for $1,229 including free shipping. This results in potential savings of 34% relative to MSRP.
This SKU includes the aforementioned OLED display, which has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, 400 nits of brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colors. For more detailed measurements and impressions, please refer to our detailed review of the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 Aura Edition.
We found that the 14-inch notebook is a viable Windows alternative to Apple's popular MacBook Air 13. Among other things, Lenovo offers a premium chassis made of aluminum, long battery life of 14 hours and good speakers. We also liked the matte OLED screen and input devices. Although owners will have to live with a disappointing webcam and loud fans under load, the ThinkPad X9-14 can be a good purchase decision for Windows users who are looking for a machine that comes fairly close to what the MacBook Air offers.
