Nokia 9.3 PureView: Five cameras, a 108 MP sensor, 8K video capture and "exclusive ZEISS effects" for the Q3 2020-bound flagship
A successor to the Nokia 9 PureView has been a long time coming, with HMD Global having apparently scrapped plans for the Nokia 9.1 Pureview and the Nokia 9.2 PureView. The Nokia 9.3 PureView is now the successor to the penta-camera smartphone that HMD Global announced in February 2019 and Nokiapoweruser (NPU) has more information about the upcoming device.
According to NPU, HMD Global is already testing prototypes, which may feature 108 MP and 64 MP camera sensors. Citing its sources, NPU added that the cameras are capable of shooting 8K videos at 30 FPS, a feature that has appeared in multiple flagship smartphones released this year.
However, the same source claimed that "8K video capture is still considered to be an experimental feature". Accordingly, camera and editing algorithms remain a work in progress and the feature will reach the final device "when testing results are all good".
Additionally, NPU reports that the Nokia 9.3 PureView will feature an enhanced Pro mode, while OIS and improved optics may deliver more accurate shots in Night mode. Moreover, NPU states that the:
Zeiss team is also helping HMD in fine-tuning some "exclusive" Zeiss effects that Nokia 9.3 PureView camera will come with.
NPU has not expanded on what these "Zeiss effects" could be, though. Based on past reports, HMD Global is expected to announce the Nokia 9.3 in Q3 2020.
