Nintendo Switch 2 receives massive software update to version 21.0.0
The Nintendo Switch 2 (from $449 on Amazon) is getting its largest software update yet with firmware version 21.0.0, which brings a number of improvements. Most notably, the icon above the currently selected game on the home screen now indicates whether it’s a game card for the first-generation Nintendo Switch, for the Nintendo Switch 2 or a digital game. Additionally, the download manager can now pause or cancel all active downloads with a single button press. When the Nintendo Switch 2 is purchased in a bundle, an icon now appears on the home screen that leads directly to the download of the bundled game, so players no longer have to navigate through the eShop for that. If a user has interacted with others in GameChat, those people will now appear under the "Find users you’ve played with" menu option.
Moreover, GameChat now prevents the console from automatically entering sleep mode and is no longer interrupted when switching between a wired and a wireless internet connection, for example when the console is removed from the dock. After the update, the system settings further show when the console was first set up and allow the text-to-speech accessibility feature to speed up voice output by as much as 400%.
As for the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, Nintendo is introducing a new audio option that supposedly reduces latency, although the connection might be less stable in some situations. The update to version 21.0.0 is available now and will be automatically downloaded when the console is connected to the internet.
