New report delivers damning assessment of rumoured Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra camera upgrades
In recent days, Ice Universe has been steadily revealing details about the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is widely believed to be Samsung's next flagship smartphone. Among other things, the leaker claimed that Samsung only plans to bring one camera upgrade between the Galaxy S24 Ultra and its successor. In short, Samsung is rumoured to swap the 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera used in the Galaxy S24 Ultra out for a 50 MP sensor called the ISOCELL JN3.
According to Etnews, Samsung has informed its partners that the upgraded ultra-wide-angle camera will maintain a 120° field of view (FOV). Reportedly, Samsung will switch to sourcing this camera from Patron, which will also provide a 3x telephoto camera for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Added to that, Etnews asserts that the next Galaxy S Ultra smartphone will retain the same sensors that underpin the 200 MP primary and 50 MP 5x telephoto cameras inside the Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $1,074.99 on Amazon).
Moreover, Patron is said to be supplying the primary cameras for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, which will feature unchanged 50 MP sensors from the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. Supposedly, the Galaxy S25 pair will carry across the 12 MP front-facing, 10 MP 3x telephoto and 12 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras from their predecessors, too. Currently, Etnews expects Samsung to start mass producing initial Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra units towards the end of the year, likely ahead of a January 2025 launch.
