New online souls-like gothic action-RPG launches on Steam with 10K+ concurrent players on day one

Crimson Moon released on 1 September 2026 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Developed and published by ProbablyMonsters, the standard edition costs $19.99. There's also a Deluxe Edition at $29.98 that adds a post-launch expansion and two in-game items. The Deluxe upgrade can be bought separately for $9.99 as well.
Players take the role of a Nephilim, who is a human-angel hybrid working to reclaim the fallen city of Gildenarch from demons, undead, vampires and what the game calls Hellgrowth abominations. Instead of a single connected world, Crimson Moon is built around replayable missions launched from a central hub. Players' plans run at a War Table, upgrade equipment and speak with NPCs between outings.
Combat is melee-focused and souls-inspired — the game has light and heavy attacks, dodges and boss encounters against the Dead Gods. Temporary Nephilim powers granted during a run stay alongside permanent gear progression. Plus, difficulty scales dynamically; higher settings offer better rewards. The full game can be played in two-player online co-op.
Reviews-wise, Crimson Moon has received mixed criticism. Metacritic is at 73 from five critic reviews, while Steam users currently rate the game Mixed at 57% of more than 1,400 reviews — this has improved from 48% on launch day. The most commonly raised issue has been the absence of PC key rebinding, which ProbablyMonsters acknowledged on 1 September with a commitment to patch it within the week.
Hardware requirement-wise, you need Windows 11 minimum, alongside an i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1070, RX 5700 or Arc A580, and 50 GB of storage. Recommended specs include an i7-10700K, 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 3070.
The release includes 30 Steam achievements and eight languages, with full audio in English only.
