Xiaomi will soon launch its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship smartphones in China. The company has already disclosed the designs of the standard and Pro phones, and now, it has showcased the Xiaomi 17 series phones in different colors.
Among the three, the non-Pro Xiaomi 17 is showcased in white and sky blue colorways, and it's the only flagship phone among the three that doesn't come with a secondary display on the back. Speaking of the rear, as we noted in our last coverage, the standard phone has seen some design tweaks.
Compared to the predecessor, the Xiaomi 15, the new non-Pro Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship has a redesigned camera island on the back. It has a rounder square shape rather than a relatively square shape that's found on the back of the predecessor. This redesign also makes the camera island blend smoothly with the rest of the body, which is different than the dual-tone-like design that's on the last-gen non-Pro flagship.
With this reveal, Xiaomi has also confirmed that the phone will feature a 6.3-inch straight screen with 1.18 mm bezels. The display features a 19.6:9 ratio, and the phone is claimed to weigh only 191 grams, around 0.42 lbs. Xiaomi also notes the "ultra-elliptical R-angle corners," which make the smartphone rounder than its predecessor.
As for the other two phones, the Xiaomi 17 Pro was showcased in "Cold Smoke Purple" colorway, while the "Forest Green" colorway of the Pro Max starred in the new photos. The company adds that the Pro phones also sport straight screens, 1.18 mm bezels, and "super-elliptical R corner design."
Although Xiaomi didn't specify the screen sizes of the upper-end phones, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is expected to sport a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max could feature a 6.73-inch screen. Upcoming official teasers could reveal more info about the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones.
