OnePlus continues to roll out updates for its 2018 flagships, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The phone maker recently announced that the new OxygenOS Open Beta 4 update is now available for these two phones.
OxygenOS Open Beta 4 features a number of incremental changes. The Android security patch is updated to 2019.12, and a number of "general bugs" are fixed. The most important new features are a "chromatic effect" in reading mode and a volume increase/decrease feature for incoming calls.
Here's the full changelog for Open Beta 4:
•Optimized details for Emergency Rescue
•Added a feature to support reminders for privacy alerts
•Improved system stability and fixed general bugs
•Updated Android security patch to 2019.12
•Added ringtone increasing and decreasing features for incoming calls
•Fresh new chromatic effect for a more immersive and comfortable reading experience with smart color gamut and saturation adjustment (Settings-Display-Reading Mode-Turn on Reading Mode-Chromatic effect)
If you're already on the Open Beta path, you'll receive the update as an OTA. If you want to try out the Open Beta, you'll need to flash the latest Open Beta firmware. You can download that here.
OnePlus has done a great job of supporting older devices. Even the OnePlus 5, a 2017 device, is slated to receive Android 10 by Q2 2020. We'll keep you posted about new OnePlus software updates.
