Avalue has introduced the ACP-3566-PI, a new single-board computer that is promoted as an alternative to the Raspberry Pi. This SBC supposedly offers long-term support and targets customers in industrial settings, in which case long support is quite relevant since the SBC can be used in plants and factories, for instance.
The little computer is powered by the Rockchip RK3566 SoC, which comes with four Cortex-A55 cores and 4GB of memory. In contrast to the Raspberry Pi 5 (from $73 on Amazon), the SBC also sports built-in mass storage, as its eMMC module offers a 32GB of storage space.
As usual, microSD cards are supported, although the Avalue ACP-3566-PI is apparently only compatible with microSD cards with up to 64GB. Moreover, the board measures 3.35 x 2.17 inches and comes with HDMI 2.0, MIPI DSI and MIPI CSI connectivity options. The latter can be used to connect cameras. Meanwhile, input devices and external storage devices can be hooked up via one USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port, and the SBC is powered via USB as well.
Wireless networks can be accessed via WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac or a Gigabit Ethernet port. The familiar 40-pin header is onboard as well and can be used for connecting external sensors and actuators, among other things. The manufacturer has not revealed an official price tag, which is fairly usual for these B2B products. Therefore, users who are interested in the new SBC have to contact Avalue directly.
