Motorola's Moto G23 and G13 are two budget smartphones costing under £200 in the UK, with very similar specs including the same 50MP camera sensor and Helio G85 chipset. This unboxing and hands-on review compares the Motorola G23 vs G13 to see which is the best value phone for you in 2023. Photo quality, gaming performance, battery life and more is covered off. Of course, you have other options for under £200 like the Moto G53 if you want 5G support, or G32 if the screen is more important. You've got a lot of choice here, because Motorola launches so many bloody mobiles! Still, the Moto G13 is a decent choice if you only have £150 to spend. For that budget, you get the same decent everyday performance as the Moto G23, despite having half the memory. You can even get gaming on Call of Duty and other less demanding titles, albeit on lower graphics settings. The Motorola Moto G23 and G13 offer the same 50 meg camera, while the G23 also serves up a basic ultra-wide shooter. Photo and video quality is fine as long as your subject is perfectly still. Battery life is excellent on both, you get the same slick stock Android 13 experience (although no Moto app!) and the design is near identical. So which are you more tempted by? Stay tuned for my review round-up of the best budget phones of 2023!

All in all, the G23 can absolutely meet the expectations associated with the given price range. For a budget phone, it shows great promise in terms of performance. If you decide to pick the Moto G23 for your daily driver, you’ll likely be pleasantly surprised, as long as you can accept its few, but noticeable shortcomings.

Motorola's new G-series budget phone attracts with its design and long battery life, but otherwise it's a very cheap device. Weak screen, stripped-down software, low quality shooting in low light. At the moment, competitors' offers are more interesting, and Moto G23 can only be helped by a price reduction.

If you like performance-driven phones, then the Motorola Moto G23 will not fall into a similar category since the device got an average hardware setup, usually found even in the last three generations of entry-level phones. So there’s no major progression in terms of the hardware configuration. But still, we know that Motorola phones provide clean UI, and many people prefer a bloatware-free interface. As for the other factors, the display is what you expect from a budget phone, the battery life is obviously not an issue since you are getting long-lasting screen time, and the latest Android 13 ecosystem comes as a cherry on top. However, the average camera quality, mediocre gaming, and performance are the core downside. Therefore, if you are looking for a better alternative, you should consider the Realme 10 since it brings a complete package of features. We recommend Moto G23 if you are getting a major discount offer only.

Motorola announced the Moto G23 smartphone in January 2023 at an expected price of $328 (Rs 27,490 in India) approx. The Moto G23 smartphone comes with 4G connectivity and is available in Matter charcoal, Pearl White, and Steel Blue color variants. For display specs, you will get a decent 6.5 inches IPS LCD display panel that renders a 90Hz refresh rate with HD resolution. The display has also protected by panda glass protection. The device offers a dual sim and water-resistant design. The Motorola Moto G23 smartphone also runs on the latest Android 13 OS with a clean UI. Under the hood of the Moto G23, you will receive the 12nm Mediatek MT6769Z Helio G85 chipset that will handle your daily tasks. You can pick between the 64GB to 128GB storage that will be accompanied by 4GB/8GB RAM support, while for expand memory you also get a dedicated secondary card slot. Let’s talk about camera performance, in the Motorola Moto G23 smartphone you get a triple camera setup that includes a 50MP primary camera, 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro sensor. Moving the front display, the device brings a 16MP selfie lens. In terms of video recording, you can record 1080p videos from both cameras. The phone is powered by a massive Li-Po 5000 mAh battery capacity with decent 30W fast charging support. Everything looks good as a mid-range segment but the company didn’t provide 5G connectivity in this phone which is the downside of this smartphone.

Only a few smartphones have larger screens.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
Only few smartphones are more lightweight than this.
