Motorola Moto G receives update

The Moto G is now water resistant
The Moto G is now water resistant
Motorola unveiled the latest Moto G smartphone on Tuesday.

Along with announcing the Moto X Style and Moto X Play, Motorola refreshed the Moto G smartphone. The outside of device has been given an IPX7 waterproofing treatment for better durability and the rear-facing camera is now 13MP, which is a great improvement over the last iteration's 8MP camera. The front-facing camera is 5MP for better quality pictures and videos.

The Motorola Moto G will also include 4G LTE support out of the box instead of being an option, helping it compete even better with the more expensive flagship competitors. Unlike before, Moto Maker is available for the Moto G, allowing for buyers to customize the look and style of the smartphone in various ways. The smartphone will retain its 5 inch display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, even though it has been seen as relatively underwhelming in terms of speed and power.

The rest of the phone has not received any other refreshes as the device released in April 2015, but the new improvements could bring more users on board with Motorola. Although the Style and Play are the more premium phones from the company, the Moto G with its solid design, good specs, and cheap price is where Motorola really sells a lot of its smartphones. The price of the Moto G will stay at $180 without a contract despite the new update.
