Mondaine Helvetica 1 smartwatch now up for pre-order
As smartwatches gain market share slowly but surely, big names in the industry join the market. Tag Heuer and Casio are just two of the companies that announced their first smart wearables, and now Swiss watchmaker Mondaine offers the Helvetica 1 in a limited pre-order edition, for a special price.
Mondaine Helvetica 1 does not display any notification, but it has some basic tracking capabilities. The watch tracks sleep quality and fitness data, then interacts with iOS and Android handsets via a special app. There is also an advantage that its limited amount of features bring, as battery life can go up to two years.
The pre-order batch of Helvetica 1 is limited to 1,957 units, a number chosen to match the year when the Helvetica font came out. This smartwatch has been unveiled back at Baselworld last March and now can be pre-ordered for $850 USD while the price of the regular edition will be $950 USD. Shipments are expected to begin later this month if everything goes as planned.
