According to earlier reports, all of 2020's iPhone 12 models will support 5G. However, it wasn't clear which, if any of the models, would support the sub-6 GHz-plus mmWave standard.
A new investor note by analyst Ming Chi-Kuo offers tantalizing predictions about the state of 5G on this year's iPhone models. Kuo claims now that both mmWave and regular 5G iPhone 12 models will release at the same time in Q2 2020.
This analysis is in line with JP Morgan's earlier claim that only two iPhone 12 variants would support mmWave 5G. Because of the complexity of the technology in use, questions were raised about whether or not Apple would be able to introduce all iPhone 12 variants in the same timeframe. Ming-Chi Kuo's latest report quells these fears.
2020 is set to be a big year for the iPhone. Rumors indicate that the new iPhone models will feature a major redesign, drawing design cues from the beautiful iPhone 4, as well as cutting down on notch size. Support for 5G networks is the other key change expected. We expect to hear more about the iPhone 12 in the months to come. We'll keep you posted!
