Chinese OEM Maxsun released a desktop motherboard featuring one of Intel's mobile Tiger Lake chips built in. The HM570 is a standard Micro-ATX motherboard, but has its Tiger Lake i7-11800H soldered on. With low-end Alder Lake parts set to hit the market soon, though, it's unclear exactly who the HM570 is made for.
Maxsun recently released the MS-Meterstone HM570 motherboard, currently the world's only Micro-ATX desktop board built to support Intel's Tiger Lake chips. The HM570 features a 45W Core i7-11800H soldered onto the socket, alongside standard I/O ports and 3 PCI-e slots for graphics and storage.
Chinese retailer JD currently has the HM570 on sale for the equivalent of US$450. This makes it a pricey option for what's essentially a motherboard bundled with a low-power CPU. Right now, what's unclear is exactly who the Meterstone HM570 targets.
The motherboard costs roughly the same as getting a cheap X570 board and a proper desktop Ryzen CPU, and performance will likely be lower. Moreover, lower-end Alder Lake desktop parts, including i3s and Pentiums, are set to arrive in the months to come. These will also likely feature significantly better performance.
For now, the Meterstone HM570 is mostly a curiosity: an expensive mobile-derived platform that should provide decent CPU performance in small form-factor builds.
