Skydance New Media has announced a delay for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, confirming that the game will now launch in early 2026. The game was originally anticipated for the 2025 holiday season. However, the studio said it needed more time to polish the game and deliver an experience that meets both player expectations and its creative goals.
In a statement posted to social media, the team wrote, “Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision.” At the moment, the team has not provided any specific release window for 2026 has been provided.
The delay pushes back what was one of Marvel’s most anticipated narrative-driven games. Directed by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig, the title promises a cinematic adventure set during World War II, starring a young Steve Rogers and Black Panther Azzuri in Nazi-occupied Paris.
Originally revealed in 2022 and in development since 2021, the project marks Skydance’s debut in gaming. The delay also adds Marvel 1943 to a growing list of high-profile 2025 titles, like GTA 6, slipping into 2026.
While disappointing for fans hoping for a holiday launch, Skydance emphasized that the extra development time will help refine the experience. More updates are expected as the studio moves closer to release.
