Amazon has given the Maono PD200W hybrid wireless mic a 35% discount off its MSRP of $129.99, for a savings of $45.
Notebookcheck reviewed the PD200W microphone for podcasters and creators last year and found it to be "a clutter-free recording experience for amateur vocalists." The PD200W includes a standard XLR audio connector on the rear for wired connections to common podcasting audio interfaces and mixers. For those who do not have a mixer, the mic can be connected to laptops using a USB-C cable. The PD200W also has the ability to connect wirelessly to smartphones and laptops with its included USB-C wireless receiver, eliminating the clutter of XLR or USB-C cables.
The microphone samples audio at 24-bit, 48 kHz using a 30 mm capsule, which has a 128 dB SPL and 82 dB SNR. A built-in 3.5 mm headphone jack can be used to monitor the raw audio in real time.
When compared to higher-end models, the review noted the PD200W has a fixed cardioid pickup pattern, which may not be narrow enough to fully isolate podcasters in noisy environments, and its audio is not quite "studio-grade." Nonetheless, the conclusion was that the Maono PD200W is "more than good enough for a home podcasting, voice recording, or streaming setup," especially when considering its price.
