The upcoming Khadas Mind Go might look like a regular tablet at first glance, but thanks to a corresponding keyboard and the Mind Go Stand, the 11-inch device quickly transforms into a full-fledged laptop or even desktop computer for uninterrupted productivity.

The Mind Go takes a different approach to personal computing by offering portability and lots of performance in a modular 3-in-1 design. It puts numerous capabilities into a single device and can be transformed into a tablet, laptop and desktop depending on the situation.

The core of the Khadas Mind Go is an 11.6-inch tablet that’s thin, light and comfortable to use. The latest LCD prototype weighs around 600 grams and is just 0.24 inches thick, sports built-in speakers, a front-facing camera and supports the Mind Pencil for handwriting and sketching. An ergonomically raised rear edge improves grip and makes the device easier to hold during presentations or shorter work sessions. Khadas is also considering an OLED screen, which could reduce thickness to about 0.22 inches and make the Mind Go even more lightweight.

The tablet is based on a fanless and efficient platform, the final decision regarding the chipset is still pending. A clever key design choice revolves around the battery, which is partly placed in the tablet as well as the keyboard. This allows the tablet itself to remain more compact and lighter.

Khadas Mind Go can be used in three different modes

When connected to the keyboard, the Mind Go enters laptop mode. Power and data are delivered via pogo-pin connectors, and the combined battery capacity increases to 45Wh, which allows up to nine hours of local video playback. Furthermore, the tablet can be attached or detached at any time without interrupting workflows, so flexible transitions between desk work and mobile use are possible.

Desktop mode is activated via the Mind Go Stand, an actively cooled base that removes thermal constraints and almost doubles the performance compared to tablet mode. The stand also functions as a full desktop dock with connectivity options including USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, a headphone jack and integrated speakers. With this stand, the Mind Go effectively becomes a multi-display workstation, which transforms the portable tablet into a full-fledged desktop computer.

The Mind Go is still in active development, and key decisions such as the display technology and expansion options will be shaped through user feedback. That being said, Khadas’ latest device will undoubtedly focus on adaptable workflows rather than a single fixed form factor.
