MachineGames celebrated its 15th anniversary with a commemorative poster featuring an empty frame marked with a question mark. This has sparked social-media speculation that the studio may be working on an unannounced title, with some pointing to a return to Wolfenstein amidst other options.

Bethesda Softworks' subsidiary MachineGames celebrated its 15th anniversary on October 10 in an X post, which has spurred speculation on social media about an upcoming unannounced project.

MachineGames has been renowned for reviving the Wolfenstein series with titles like The New Order in 2014, followed by The Old Blood in 2015, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus in 2017, the weakly received Wolfenstein: Youngblood in 2019, and the critically acclaimed cinematic Indiana Jones and the Great Circle released in 2024.

The studio shared a commemorative poster showcasing key art from all major releases, but also includes an empty frame with a big question mark right next to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

This suggests that MachineGames is working on an unannounced project, which could be revealed before the end of 2025. The tease comes amid a free anniversary update for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which introduces a New Game+ mode, alongside a new extended ending, developer commentary, and concept art.

The question-mark-laden unannounced project has stirred up speculation about the studio's return to the Wolfenstein series, which hasn’t seen a mainline entry in over six years. Wolfenstein III is expected to conclude the rebooted series, which features protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz.

It’s already confirmed that Wolfenstein is supposed to be a trilogy, as Studio head Jerk Gustafsson reiterated this sentiment in a recent interview, stating, “We’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”

However, more rumors are brewing in the cauldron, with possibilities pointing to an Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sequel, due to the game's commercial success and recent job listings at MachineGames, which hint at continued work on the franchise.

There’s also speculation about an entirely new IP to diversify the studio’s portfolio. Lead Prop Artist Pontus Wahlin commented on the studio’s outlook, stating, “With our upcoming projects, we’re well-positioned for continued growth and success. The experience gained from our work on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has provided valuable insights that will only enhance our future initiatives.”

The enigmatic question mark is building hype for whatever project lies ahead in MachineGames' pipeline, promising more polished action-oriented gameplay that the studio has defined since its inception.
