While it is nice to see a company like MSI entering the realm of 14-inch gaming laptops with the Stealth 14 Studio, it is, unfortunately, far from a decent first attempt. I understand why the company went with Intel’s 13th Gen mobile processors, and as powerful as CPUs like the Core i7-13700H is, it has been proven on more than one occasion to be less than stellar when it comes to power efficiency. Hopefully, and assuming MSI is willing to continue developing the Stealth 14 Studio into the next generation, the brand will go the way of its rivals and maybe adopt better, more efficient performance-per-watt processors from Intel’s red rival. Of course, if it does continue down the path of the blue chipmaker, one can only hope that Meteor Lake will be exponentially better in that department and based on what we’ve able to see, it sure as heck looks promising.

The latest to join the MSI family is none other than the MSI Stealth 14 (RTX 4050). As far as its design is concerned, the device looks quite elegant but has a tendency to show quite a few fingerprint marks. Furthermore, for a gaming laptop, this design is actually quite reserved as the dragon logo on the lid is the only thing that draws attention to the device series. However, there are some additional lighting elements which can be activated via the MSI Center located on both of the corners, as well as the Stealth logo, which can also be illuminated. Unfortunately, it is worth noting that the lighting's colour or intensity is not modifiable. On the other hand, the case itself is made from a magnesium-aluminium alloy and the base unit is extremely stable as it cannot be bent or twisted and there are no creaking noises as well. The same unfortunately cannot be said for the device's lid as it is more flexible and can even be bent ever so slightly, leading to audible creaking noises.
In terms of its connectivity, the Stealth 14’s ports are in the middle on both sides of the device, although there are only three on each side. While it is possible to find the most necessary connections, it is commendable that the laptop's ports are at least up-to-date, as it includes Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1 ports. Having said that, unfortunately there is no SD card reader and Ethernet port included. This simply means that one will have to rely on an adapter for such connections. As for the keyboard, it can be counted as one of the laptop’s flaws, as its key lift is very shallow and the keys have quite a rickety feel to them. Despite that, tapping the keys does end up being quite precise. However, users might need some time to get used to the layout as it has a single-line enter key and the "|<>" key is in a slightly unusual spot. It is worth mentioning that each individual key's lighting can be adjusted using the Steelseries software. In addition, the smooth click pad (12 x 7.5 cm) works well for everyday use.
As far as its display is concerned, this model has been incorporated with a 14-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The main highlight of this display has to be its 240-Hz refresh rate as well as its fast reaction times. However, the overall picture quality is not quite impressive though. While its sharpness levels are good, the dark areas tends to look a little as if they have a grey veil hanging over them. In terms of its processor, this device has been equipped with Intel's current bread-and-butter processor, their Core i7-13700H - designed for multimedia and gaming laptops paired with RTX 4050 for its graphics portion which caters for a stable gaming performance. Overall, it is a great device to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.
