Model: The MSI PS63 Modern-091 is an ultrabook that is lightweight and portable but still delivers decent performance. It features an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (or 1050Ti) in a 15.6-inch Ultrabook, which is not common in the market. The P63 is a great looking laptop. It features blue chamfered "diamond-cut" edges on the aluminium chassis, which makes it a gorgeous looking laptop with blue and black accent. The laptop measures at 35.69 x 23.37 x 1.6 cm (14.05 x 9.20 x 0.63 inch) and weighs at 1.6 kg. The PS63 Modern is one of the lightest 15-inch laptops that also has a full GeForce GTX 1050 or 1050Ti GPU. MSI laptops typically have top quality display panels. The PS63 is no exception. It features a 15.6” matte (anti-glare) panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a Full-HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. Color accuracy is 95 percent of sRGB and 75 percent of AdobeRGB, which is fairly accurate. The brightness is average at 315 nits but it is enough to work comfortably under environmental lightings. As for hardware specifications, it has an Intel Core i7-8565U 1.8 – 4.6 GHz processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4G GDDR5 graphic processor, 16 GB (1x 16 GB) DDR4 2666MHz RAM and 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD storage (2x 512 GB). Even though it does not feature the latest GPU, it is capable of delivering more than adequate performance and even allows for graphics editing, as well as gaming on some not so resource demanding games.
The keyboard delivers comfortable typing experience despite its shallow and flat keys. Having a keyboard that’s made to be ergonomic, with an optimized travel distance makes all the difference when users are typing. Users can type in comfort day or night, with the backlit keyboard. MSI uses Microsoft Precision drivers on the trackpad, and the spacious physical trackpad is smooth. Located on the top left of the trackpad is a small fingerprint reader for Windows Hello biometric authentication. Because of the efficient 15 W Ultrabook CPU, the PS63 Modern gets excellent battery life even though it has an average 4 cell (82 Wh) battery. MSI provides three "classic" USB Type-A ports as well as a USB Type-C port. A microSD slot is also available. The MSI PS63 Modern-091's exclusive Cooler Boost 3 Technology, with 2 dedicated fans and 3 heat pipes, stands out among the competition, keeping the laptop cool even in intense usage. As a conclusion, MSI has delivered a laptop, which features great performance, especially with the discrete graphics processor on an ultraportable laptop build. It is definitely a great choice for people who are always working on the go and want something with some gaming capabilities because of the lightweight build.

The MSI PS63 Modern is a workforce laptop that is sleek, powerful and boasts a portable design. Although, the device is not a high performing dedicated gaming laptop, its GTX 1050 TI is impressive for a device with portability in mind. The MSI PS63 modern is actually targeted at designers and its main message is sixteen by sixteen by sixteen. The meaning behind is that the device is sixteen millimeters thick, weighs 1.6 kilograms and has 16 hours battery life. The PS63 is powered by a Core i7, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 1050. However, there is also another configuration that includes a GTX 1050 TI and an m.2 SATA SSD. As for expandable storage, the device two m.2 slots and one extra RAM slot for users who want to upgrade it, meaning users are able to max out to 32 GB of RAM and at least 2 TB of storage. The MSI PS63 has a very stylish design that screams sophistication with its modern aesthetic, it has a blue trim around the outer edge of the display that looks great in any given situation. MSI has a very over-the-top logo and on the top of the PS63, the dragon logo has faintly been embossed on, so that it can keep the simple style. The laptop’s shell is made from an aluminum material that is cooling collective, which also gives the device an excellent touch to it that does not slip out of users’ hand when carrying it around.
As users open up the laptop, they are welcome to an excellent narrow bezel, the hinge is plastic, which ruins the aluminum shell design, but it is possibly due to heating purposes. Overall, it is a 15.6-inch laptop, that is 25.56 x 23.37 x 1.52 cm (14 x 9.2 x 0.6 inch). In terms of ports, on the right-hand side, there are two USB 3.0 ports and a microSD slot. On the left side of the laptop, there is a barrel charger, which is a mandatory charger; 90 watts. Users will also find an HDMI port, a headphone jack, one USB type-C and type-A. The PS63 also comes with an USB to Ethernet adapter. The keyboard is backlit with LEDs, but the big feature on the inside is MSI’s new touchpad approach. The giant strip of gloss touchpad is what MSI is going for these days with all their notebooks, both gaming and work. The touchpad is 13.97 x 6.35 cm (5.5 x 2.5 inch) big. The extra space on the touchpad provides users to make use of the many gestures that replace the need for a mouse; pinch and zoom, swiping with three fingers and much more. The laptop also comes with a great fingerprint reader.
Although the 15.6-inch 1080p IPS LED display is great, the device lacks in the brightness sector, as it is one of the dimmest laptops compared with other MSI laptops. The PS63 is not the brightest, but it does boast some fantastic color ratio at 136 % color gamut. Regarding the performance, the average use proved that the internals of the device are fast and powerful with everything performing extremely well. When it comes to gaming, users will be able to easily play most modern games on a medium to high setting, while maintaining at least 30 FPS (frames per second). While this laptop is not focused on the gaming aspect, the GTX 1050 TI is sufficient to satisfy any gamers while on the go. MSI stated that the PS63 has 16 hours of battery life. Users are only able to get 16 hours of battery life if the device is on lowest performance, lowest brightness and the backlit keys are disabled. All in all, the MSI PS63 Modern is a very sleek and lightweight device. Users are able to get a great entry gaming laptop, excellent designed device and a powerful work and travel notebook all in one.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile: Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 965M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
i7-8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
70%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
