Model: Leading the pack for gaming laptops with Intel’s SkyLake technology, MSI has revamped its GT72 flagship offering and unveiled its latest GT72S-6QE Dominator Pro G – one of the first to implement Intel's high-performing processor in the market. Its 6th generation Intel Core i7 quad core processor does not only deliver the high performance of its predecessor, but also provides an essentially lower power consumption. The energy-saving features in this processor enable a surge in power efficiency and a longer battery life, which is useful when power outlets are not readily available or during travels.
Hardcore gamers will be delighted that this model comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M graphics adapter, which allows a smooth and lag-free experience for most of the recent, modern, high-detailed 3D games. It also comes with a Super Raid 4 storage configuration, which makes for extreme read speeds of over 3300 MB/s and loading games in mere seconds. The user experience is further enriched with its Dynaudio sound system and SteelSeries keyboard with full-color backlight, making it both a visual and audio delight. As a solid gaming device, this laptop is undeniably bulky at 3.78 kg, but it provides a generous amount of USB ports with six USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C super port for connecting an external mouse, a keyboard, headsets and more. Coupled with a 17.3” Full HD wide-viewing angle display, this model, which claims to be the world's fastest gaming notebook, is surely set to be any gamer’s dream device.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M:
Fast high-end graphics card based on the Maxwell GM204 chip from the GeForce GTX 900M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6820HK: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
3.79 kg:
Only a few laptops are in this weight class because the mobility is rather limited due to the high weight.
MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
89%: This is an above-average rating. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that about one fifth of all tested models receive a better rating.
