Reviews for the MSI GS70-2PEi71611
Wickedly hot. Most gaming machines are fast, but also heavy and bulky. MSI thinks that unnecessary, and presents us the thinnest and lightest 17-inch laptop in the world, according to its advertisement. A quick look at the specs nurtures doubts: Has the manufacturer managed to keep temperature and noise development under control?

Archive.org versionOnce again, MSI has proven that a powerful notebook doesn't necessarily have to be a hulking behemoth. The $2,099 GS70 Stealth Pro houses a Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M processor in a 0.85-inch-thick chassis. It's a highly successful pairing of portability and power. In addition, the notebook offers a blistering SSD, a matte 1080p display and software to record your best moves.

Model:
MSI has certainly stamped a strong presence in the high specification gaming laptop market and the GS70 2PE Stealth Pro is another jewel. The gaming laptop is packed with high specification parts such as the latest 4th Generation Intel Core i7 processor at 2.4 GHz, which can be dynamically overclocked up to 3.4 GHz.
Besides this, the laptop comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M and 3 GB or 6 GB GDDR5 VRAM depending on the model. This setup coupled with DDR3L 1600 MHz RAM up to 16 GB can cope with the most demanding games currently out in the market.
Users will definitely be satisfied with the 17" HD (1920X1080), anti-glare LCD display. The MSI GS70 Stealth Pro is also able to pack up to 768 GB Super RAID 2 + 1 TB HDD 7200rpm, which is plenty big for most users. Other notable hardware aimed at the gamer are the Killer E2200 LAN, full-color backlight SteelSeries keyboard and sound by Dynaudio with subwoofer.
The battery on this beast is a 6-cell Li-Polymer rated at 5400mAh and the entire setup weighs 2.66 Kg with battery. The MSI GS70 2PE Stealth Pro is aimed at the most demanding gamer and doesn't fail to deliver in all the important aspects.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M: High-end graphics card from the GeForce GTX 800M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4700HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
