MSI, the Taiwanese computer manufacturer, is back on the floor with their new MSI GP63 8RE-041XES gaming laptop. Another one of their mid-range gaming series, the new notebook comes with a neat and sleek 'sports car' design, with a black chassis and red lines accent. Let's see what this new laptop has to offer. The MSI GP63 8RE-041XES is powered by the new Intel Core i7-8750H processor that comes with 6 cores, 9 MB of cache memory, and, with Intel's Turbo Boost, can achieve a maximum of 3.9 GHz. It also houses a Nvidia GTX 1060 with 6 GB of DDR5 RAM that will allow gamers to run their games at maximum settings with a minimum of 30 FPS. Consistent with many of MSI's other mid-range gaming laptops, this one also comes with a massive 16 GB of RAM, which is definitely enough for demanding processes such as 3D rendering and video editing. It is also possible to upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 32 GB. A very nice element on this laptop is its hybrid storage system - a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD - as this gives the computer an excellent balance between huge storage and a speedy file system. As for the availability of the ports, the MSI GP63 8RE-041XES comes with one USB-3.1 Type-C port, three USB-3.1 Type-A ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 combo adapter, one HDMI output, one mini DisplayPort output, and one mic and headphone combo jack. It is also important to note that the MSI GP63 8RE-041XES does not come with a pre-installed operating system, so the user will have to purchase a Windows license separately. Or perhaps go for one of the Linux OSes, since Steam has just updated SteamPlay and more games are now playable on Steam.
Another thing that stands out on the MSI GP63 8RE-041XES are the built-in speakers. To improve the players' experience, MSI decided to equip the laptop with two giant speakers that are five times more powerful than conventional laptop speakers. Users can also enhance the sound system with Nahimic 3, which can give them more control over the sound performance of their media. The Nahimic VR will also bring the 7.1 surround sound to a regular stereo headset. MSI's very own Audio Boost design will furthermore be able to magnify the sound details by 30%. Other features worth mentioning include the ergonomic RGB SteelSeries backlit keyboard, the ping-protecting Killer Gaming LAN, the redesigned Dragon Center 2.0 and MSI's "SHIFT" technology for profile optimisations, and even the Matrix Display that supports up to 2 external displays simultaneously with both the HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs. It is nice to see that MSI was able to come up with a gaming laptop of this quality and still keep the price relatively low. Perhaps that was the reason the MSI GP63 8RE-041XES came with FreeDOS. Now is a good a time as any to try out one of the Linux flavours.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: The mobile GTX 1060 is based on the GP106 chip and offer 1280 shaders. Compared to the identically named desktop version it features a slightly lower clock rate. Games in Full HD and maximum details should run fluently on the card.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
