Reviews for the MSI GF65 10SER-690
Source: Laptop Media

The MSI GF65 Thin 10Sx is equipped with the same 120Hz IPS panel (AUO B156HAN13.0) as the GL65 9SE. It has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Additionally, it doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. Unfortunately, however, it is able to display only half of the colors found on the Internet and its quick refresh rate is paired with really slow response times, resulting in ghosting in fast-paced games.

Model:
MSI has always been known for their excellent gaming laptops. The GF series mainly focuses on the portability factor. The latest to enter the GF series has to be the MSI GF65 10SER-690. In terms of its display, the GF65 has been equipped with a glossy 15.6-inch IPS screen with a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution. The Full-HD screen definitely provides a premium viewing experience for the users. The dimension of this gaming laptop is 21.7mm x 359mm x 254mm. In terms of its weight, the GF65 10SER-690 weighs about 1.86kg. As far as the performance is concerned, this gaming laptop has been equipped with none other than the Intel Core i7-10750H processor. It is worth noting that the Intel Core i7-10750H is a high-end processor for laptops with six cores based on the Comet Lake architecture (CML-H, 4th generation of Skylake). Overall, the processor clocks at between 2.6 and 5 GHz (probably 4.3 GHz with 6 cores) and can execute up to twelve threads simultaneously thanks to Hyper-Threading. As for the performance of the Core i7-10750H, it should only be slightly higher than that of its predecessor, the Intel Core i7-9750H. Owing to the fact that it has been equipped with 6 cores and high Turbo speeds, even demanding applications should run fine on this CPU. However, long-term performance always depends on the cooling system and system configuration of the laptop.
In terms of its GPU, this device has been equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX2060 Mobile graphics unit. This is a fast mid-range gaming graphics card for laptops. It is actually based on the desktop RTX 2060 chip, but at reduced GPU clock rates (-30%) and reduced power consumption (80-90 Watt TGP versus 160 Watt for the desktop version). As for gaming performance, the mobile RTX 2060 is similar to an old Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (Desktop) and clearly behind the desktop RTX 2060. The mobile GTX 1660 Ti is only a few percent behind in the gaming benchmarks, but offers no built-in ray-tracing features. As for more demanding games, the RTX 2060 is most suited for games with Full HD and high settings. As far as connectivity is concerned, the MSI GF65 10SER-690 has been equipped with two USB-3.0 Gen-1 ports, a single HDMI port, a 3.5mm audio connection slot, and two USB Type-C ports. The laptop also carries a backlit chiclet keyboard. There is furthermore a 720p camera installed within the laptop for user convenience. In terms of its battery, there is a 51Wh Lithium-Polymer 3-cell battery with a runtime of approximately 7 hours. Overall, the MSI GF65 10SER-690 is definitely a great option to be explored as a gaming laptop, depending on the choice and preference of the users.

i7-10750H: A high-performance hexa-core processor designed for use in thicker laptops with room for better thermals. The Comet Lake-H processor is manufactured on the third-gen 14 nm Intel process and features a 24 EU UHD Graphics 630 iGPU clocked at 350 MHz to 1,150 MHz. The CPU cores run at 2.6 GHz (base clock speed) Boosting up to 5.0 GHz and the likely all-core Boost frequency is 4.3 GHz. Hyper-Threading is enabled, allowing two threads to run simultaneously on each core.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
