Despite being a refresh compared to its predecessor, the MSI Cyborg 15 A13V is a good gaming laptop. The keyboard is comfortable for both typing and gaming and the audio quality is on point. The simple-looking cooling with just one fan is enough for almost 3.00 GHz P-core clock in prolonged sessions of 100% processor load. Moreover, the fan isn’t too loud in “Extreme Performance” mode which is a bit of a positive surprise. Of course, using the “Cooler Boost” function will ramp the fan speed to the max and the noise becomes almost unbearable. The GPU has zero problems maintaining the max official TGP limit of 45W in “Extreme Performance” or in “Balanced” mode. The 1080p IPS display (AUO B156HAN15.1 (AUOD0A2) is PWM-free which is good news for all users. Still, the color coverage is nothing to write home about but that’s okay since the laptop isn’t meant for content creation or professional color-sensitive work.
