Logitech continues its acquisitions and with the latest ASTRO buyout, the company seeks to consolidate its position on the gaming headset market.

Logitech acquired a series of companies over the last 10 years, including audio-related companies, such as Jaybird and Ultimate Ears. Their latest addition to the acquisition roaster is the gaming headset company ASTRO Gaming. Logitech G manager and VP Ujesh Desai announced that the company bought ASTRO for $85 million cash.

The press release issued by Logitech states that “ASTRO’s history of producing award-winning headsets for pro esports and console gamers perfectly complements the PC gaming expertise Logitech G is best known for.”  With this move, Logitech intends to make the ASTRO headsets available for PC gamers as well. Desai also commends the ASTRO A10 entry level headset and mentions that the ASTRO brand and product line will remain unchanged.

Logitech is ready  to close the deal in August this year, and with this merger completed, it will be entering an already crowded gaming headset market dominated by Razer, Steelseries and LucidSound.
