America's love affair with mobile homes and general independence has been reimagined for the EV era in the form of Lightship's AE.1 Cosmos trailer.
The first American company that will only make electric trailers announced its inaugural mobile home that comes with the largest ever battery on such a trailer, and can function as a "self-containing microgrid" with Starlink-ready connectivity.
The Lightship AE.1 Cosmos has a 77 kWh battery that adds up to 300 miles of range to an electric vehicle like the Cybertruck or Rivian R1T that tows it, and a NACS port for direct access to Tesla's Superchargers. It also has a solar roof that can add up to 15 kWh of recharge capacity per day.
The trailer is auto leveling and can sleep up to four people comfortably with its own HVAC system, full bathroom, and a galley kitchen that comes with a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, convection oven and an induction top.
The first Lighthouse Aero-Electric trailer features its TrekDrive vehicle assist technology that offers "self-propulsion and our proprietary smart hitch with two-way force sensing between your trailer and tow vehicle, allowing the trailer to tap into additional power on an uphill climb and apply controlled braking on a slope."
That is the beauty of electric propulsion, but Lightship didn't stop here. The CampQuiet system can run the HVAC system and electric appliances for weeks on end from the 77 kWh battery or the solar roof without needing a noisy fuel generator.
As usual, the inaugural AE.1 Cosmos Edition is the most premium trim, costing $250,000 before the federal tax credit, and coming with exclusive colors and an appointed interior. It is available to order now, but only 50 units will be delivered from the summer of 2025, while the cheaper Atmos, Panos, and Terros trims that will halve its pricing, are arriving from 2026.
