Cybertruck tows the other most American vehicle as Tesla makes trailer Superchargers easy to find
Tesla is getting more creative with its advertising by the day, and has decided to showcase the two most American vehicles to the country in one fell swoop.
Both the Cybertruck and the Model Y are 90% American, according to Tesla's lead Cybertruck engineer Wes Morrill. About 65% of the Cybertruck's parts and components are sourced in the US or Canada, and 25% come from Mexico.
Tesla's Cybertruck and Model Y are the most American cars
The Model Y, which currently occupies the top spot in the most American-made index, has 70% US or Canadian parts and 20% Mexican for the same end percentage. Needless to say, the fact that both of the most American-made vehicles are assembled in Texas also helps not only with the ranking, but with their federal tax credit eligibility, too.
Tesla doesn't advertise this, and a lot of folks out there don't know that the Model Y and the Cybertruck are more American in terms of parts and assembly than, say, the Ford F-150, a Silverado, or a RAM truck. During a recent interview with CNBC, for instance, Donald Trump quipped that EVs are "all going to be made in China" anyway, in a prime example about the lack of awareness of how made-in-US Teslas are.
As if to hammer this point home without resorting to uncharacteristic nationwide ad blanketing, Tesla has now hooked a glass trailer with a Model Y inside to a Cybertruck. The writing on the transparent trailer says that "the best-selling car in the world is Made in America," referring to last year's top-selling status of the Model Y that beat Toyota vehicles for the title.
Pull-through trailer Supercharger locations
One of the spy shots of said Cybertruck trailer with the Model Y inside shows how it has parked blocking several parking spaces, including a handicapped spot, and that happens at Superchargers as well.
Such sights might become increasingly rare as Tesla begins to show the presence of pull-through stalls in the vehicle UI in order to make road trips with a trailer easier, according to Wes.
Tesla is apparently already installing those trailer-friendly stalls at any new location it can, including at the new V4 Supercharger stations.
