The budget 6.8-inch and 7-inch phablets will carry Snapdragon 400 and 615 SoCs.

The Lenovo Phab is already available in China as previously reported, but its presence at this year's IFA may suggest an eventual overseas launch in the future. The Lenovo Phab is a 7-inch tablet with budget specifications including a 720p display, Snapdragon 410 SoC, 1 GB RAM, and 16 GB eMMC. The device is optimized for one-handed use, meaning that Lenovo has pre-installed software to shrink the size of the content so the user's thumb can more easily touch all corners.

The Phab Plus is the smaller 6.8-inch model despite what its name implies. Instead, the "Plus" moniker means more powerful internals including its 1080p resolution, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC, dual SIM slots, and octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC. However, the internal battery will be smaller at 3500 mAh and the cameras and chassis remain identical to that of the larger Phab.

The Lenovo Phab and Phab Plus will launch for $180 and $300 USD, respectively, with no confirmed launch in Germany as of this writing. See our hands-on video with the Phab Plus below.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
