Reviews for the Lenovo Yoga C740-15IML
The dedicated graphics chip is gone without replacement, 4K UHD is no longer an option and there is no Thunderbolt 3 anymore, either: At first glance, the Lenovo Yoga C740-15IML appears to be a clear downgrade compared to its predecessor. While this holds true for some aspects of the convertible, other areas have seen some improvements. Unfortunately, our test model suffers from a very dimly lit display. Read our in-depth review to find out what else Lenovo does or does not do well.

The Lenovo Yoga C740 is a great all-rounder for anyone looking for a powerful laptop to work, browse and stream movies on. The 2-in-1 aspect makes this laptop incredibly versatile and a great mid-range laptop for students to sketch and make notes with.

The Lenovo Yoga C740 is a great 15.6-inch laptop that is designed as a versatile computer that provides excellent value for the price. As such, it is evident that you can find something faster or lighter, but those advantages would come as a significant additional expense.

Sometimes it's just nice to have a bigger screen on your laptop, especially if you're getting one for work and entertainment. The Yoga C740 is available in 14- and 15.6-inch sizes and the two versions are otherwise essentially the same. Like the 14-inch version, the 15.6-inch C740 I tested is an excellent pick for everyday home office or schoolwork. If you don't have plans to travel or commute with it much, the extra screen space is better for things like watching videos and having more room for work. And despite the larger size, it still only weighs about 4 pounds (1.9 kg) and gets more than 11 hours of battery life.

Presumably Lenovo’s Yoga C740 series is meant to reach a broader audience by offering lower prices than the flagship Yoga C940 range. But in this case, Lenovo cut away much of what makes big, bulky laptops worth buying. The result is a notebook whose appeal is too narrow.

If you want a larger screen than the 13 or 14 inches common on 2-in-1 convertible laptops today, the 15-Inch Lenovo Yoga C740 is a fine option thanks to its sturdy build quality, simple styling, and good computing performance.

Lenovo has done it again with the Yoga C740, creating a quality convertible with long battery life and nice design at a reasonable price. We'd like more ports and a slightly lower weight but this is made up for with a better screen and performance than you might expect at this kind of money.
