CES 2022 | Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 aims to double your productivity with an industry-first 17.3-inch 21:10 3K panel and secondary touchscreen
Lenovo has a few tricks up its sleeve to stand out distinct from the sea of laptop launches at CES 2022, and the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3. The third generation of the ThinkBook Plus improves upon some of the shortcomings of the previous iteration.
We were expecting a unique design with this year's ThinkBook Plus ever since a render of the device leaked some time ago. In Gen 3, Lenovo has ditched the e-ink display and has instead opted for a secondary touch screen. The device is only about 17.9 mm thick and weighs less than 2 kg.
Lenovo said that the panoramic 17.3-inch 3K ultra-wide panel with a 21:10 aspect ratio is an industry-first. The panel also has a 120 Hz refresh rate and can cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The complementary 8-inch secondary display with an 800x1200 resolution also works as a Drawing board that supports an optional Color Pick stylus. This allows the user to use the primary display for the larger picture while adding fine details on the smaller one. The secondary display can also be customized to offer additional functionality such as a White Board function, widgets, note taking, and more.
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 can also mirror a Motorola smartphone's screen to minimize using the phone. Powering the laptop is a 12th gen Intel Core processor of which Lenovo hasn't confirmed any details yet. It is supported by 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Lenovo equips the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 with a 69 Whr battery and all necessary ports including Thunderbolt 4.
The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 will be available from May starting from US$1,399.
