IFA 2024 | Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 now official with 8-core Snapdragon X Plus CPU
Lenovo has introduced a new Snapdragon-powered ThinkBook. Unlike the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid that came with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 tablet tacked on to a PC, the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 uses an 8 core variant of Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Plus CPU. The exact SKU isn't known, which is important because the performance difference between the X1P-46-100 and X1P-42-100 is quite remarkable. It can be paired with 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8488 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD.The ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 comes in two configurations
- 16-inch WQXGA (2,560 x 1,660) 2.5K IPS panel , 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage, 350 nits peak brightness
- 16-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) IPS panel , 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage, 350 nits peak brightness
Both come with an anti-glare coating. Other specs include a 1080p IR webcam, two 10 Gbps USB Type-C ports, two USB Type-A ports, one HDMI port, one 3.5mm audio jack and a 4-in-1 SD card reader. The absence of USB 4.0 ports is puzzling, as the Snapdragon X Plus platforms supports it. Lenovo has also baked in a fingerprint sensor into the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7's power button. Lastly, the laptop draws power from a 84 Wh battery that can be charged up to 100 Watts via USB-C. You can buy the laptop in October 2024 starting at $819.
