It is a well-known fact that the ThinkBook brand has been killing it by delivering great notebooks, with adequate performance and beautiful designs. Similarly, the ThinkBook 13x is the latest of the bunch coming packed with vPro certified Tiger Lake CPUs and a plethora of features. In a nutshell, the ThinkBook brand takes the features, build quality, and stability of the ThinkPad brand, and gives it premium materials and a more appealing exterior, in order to capture the minds of the consumers.
Truly sticking to the theme of premium materials, the ThinkBook 13x is entirely made of metal, with aluminium for the lid and a magnesium/aluminium alloy for the base and bottom panel, which is high on the materials pyramid. In addition, the lid and base also have a sandblasted anodized finish, which gives them a matte appearance while limiting the number of smudges and fingerprints. Apart from that, the lid is split horizontally and has a two-tone finish. In terms of its colour variations, there are two colours which include Cloud grey or Storm grey. In terms of its weight and height, the laptop comes in at 1.13 kg and 12.9 mm, respectively, which is incredibly lightweight. As far as the display is concerned, the laptop comes with two display choices. While both of them are identical, the only difference being that one of them has touchscreen support and the other does not. Otherwise, the display has QHD+ resolution, meaning a 16:10 aspect ratio and uses an IPS panel. The display also has a max brightness of 400 nits, a contrast ratio of 1200:1, and covers 100% of the sRGB colour gamut. Regardless of the display selected, it still comes with a Gorilla Glass cover and Dolby Vision support, along with an anti-fingerprint coating.
In terms of its performance, the laptop offers only two CPU options with their own respective iGPU offerings. Both of which are part of the Tiger Lake U-series and have a TDP of only 15W. In addition, they are also vPro certified, meaning that in theory, they should have higher stability and performance. The entry configuration has the Core i5-1130G7 and the Core i7-1160G7 with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1000GB storage. As for the features, the I/O is pretty lacking, consisting of only two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one 3.5 mm audio jack. In addition, there is also Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support. Apart from that, in traditional ThinkPad fashion, there is a spill-resistant backlit keyboard, along with a Mylar-surfaced touchpad, with Precision Touchpad (PTP) support. On the other hand, the audio is on a very high level with a Four Array Microphone setup and 360° Near Field coverage, along with a Stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, which are actually provided by Harman, a well-known name in the audio space. In a nutshell, it is a great device to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.

Given that this thing barely costs over a thousand dollars in this configuration, it’s a solid buy. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x is just so good. It’s thin, light, and compact, making it easy to go wherever with you. And it’s stylish in it’s two-tone silver color. The biggest drawbacks are the 720p webcam and that battery life doesn’t really stand out. As long as you can live with those things, I don’t know what else you’re looking for. The thing is that this is just great all-around. It doesn’t have some flashy new features or anything like that. It just gets the job done, and the things that are critical to the core experience are great. To me, this feels like it’s key to the ThinkBook brand. If you’re a small business that can’t go in on buying 500 ThinkPads for a big building full of employees, you’re probably looking at something like this. If you are, it checks just the right boxes.

Speaking of performance, the hardware works really well with the two-fan cooling solution. It never heats up, and it maintains its clock speeds for long periods of time. What we noticed, however, is that the CPU frequency does not boost very high at the beginning. Yet again, the core count of the processors, offered with this product pretty much makes for it. Now, let’s talk about features. Your privacy will be intact, thanks to the fingerprint reader, the IR face recognition scanner and the privacy shutter on the camera. Furthermore, you can take advantage of the “Zero touch login”, which automatically wakes your computer and logs you in as soon as fall within reach of the sensor. See, this is a special product. It is not for everyone. Some people like future expandability, others need more ports natively. However, if you’re into portability, it can hardly get any better than that.

Lenovo ThinkBook 13x G4 review: A near-perfect business laptop that goes beyond the office

The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x G4 is a well-balanced business laptop with a few key strengths that make it great for work and entertainment alike. It features fantastic speakers, a surprisingly good webcam, a sharp display, and a snappy keyboard. While its CPU benchmark scores could be better, the ThinkBook is capable of casual gaming and kept up well with everyday tasks during my testing. Considering its price, I would have preferred for the ThinkPad 13x G4 to include the more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU rather than the Core Ultra 5 125H. The display also could have performed better in our display tests. However, those drawbacks are only relevant for certain types of professionals, such as graphic designers or those in need of a highly powerful processor.

The webcam, microphone, and speakers are great for business meetings. While a machine like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon offers more premium touches with an OLED display and snappier keyboard, I’d say the ThinkBook 13x offers a better overall package with its all-day battery life and better performance benchmarks in a variety of scenarios — not to mention the much lower price. Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Arc 7-Core: Integrated graphics adapter based on the Xe LPG architecture (similar to the dedicated Arc GPUs, but with a focus on efficiency). Provides 7 of the 8 Xe cores (112 Xe Vector Engines) and 7 ray tracing units.
Intel Arc 8-Core: Integrated graphics adapter based on the Xe LPG architecture (similar to the dedicated Arc GPUs, but with a focus on efficiency). Provides all 8 Xe cores (128 Xe vector engines) and 8 ray tracing units.

i7-1160G7: Tiger Lake based low power quad-core processor for thin and light laptops. The four cores clock between 0.9 - 4.4 GHz. The integrated GPU offers 96 EUs and clocks between 400 - 1100 MHz. Produced in 10nm+ at Intel.
i5-1130G7: Tiger Lake based low power quad-core processor for thin and light laptops. The four cores clock around 0.8 - 4 GHz. Produced on 10nm+ at Intel.
Intel Alder Lake-M:
i7-1255U: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 12 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 1.2 to 4.7 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.
Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 5 125H: A mid-range Meteor Lake family chip that debuted in December 2023. This 1st Gen Core Ultra laptop processor has come to replace 13th generation Core chips; it has 14 cores (4 + 8 + 2) and 18 threads at its disposal. Its Performance cores, of which there are 4, run at up to 4.5 GHz while its Efficient cores, of which there are 10 (8 main cores plus 2 extra ones found in the Low Power Island) run at up to 3.6 GHz. The 7-core Arc GPU, just out of the oven, serves as the integrated graphics adapter (this runs at up to 2.20 GHz) and there is a bevy of other brand-new technologies on offer as well such as the integrated AI Boost NPU with two Gen 3 engines for hardware AI workload acceleration. The chip's Intel-recommended Base power consumption is 28 W while its maximum Turbo power consumption is supposed to be within 115 W.
Ultra 9 185H: The top-of-the-line Meteor Lake chip that debuted in December 2023. This 1st Gen Core Ultra processor has come to replace 13th generation Core chips; it has 16 cores (6 + 8 + 2) and 22 threads at its disposal. Its Performance cores, of which there are 6, run at up to 5.1 GHz while its Efficient cores, of which there are 10 (8 main cores plus 2 extra ones found in the Low Power Island) run at up to 3.8 GHz. The 8-core Arc GPU, just out of the oven, serves as the integrated graphics adapter - this runs at up to 2.35 GHz - and there is a bevy of other brand-new technologies on offer as well such as the integrated AI Boost NPU with two Gen 3 engines for hardware AI workload acceleration. vPro Enterprise and business-centric features such as the Remote Platform Erase are onboard as well. This laptop processors's "base" power consumption is 45 W, while its Turbo power consumption is not supposed to go over 115 W.
