Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-70
The Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-70 is encased in sleek plastic black casing and weighs 2.2 kg. However, the plastic design means it is not necessarily as sturdy as it looks. The laptop creaks when pressure is applied to the base unit while the design attracts unsightly fingerprints. It uses an Intel Core i7, an Nvidia GeForce GT840, 4 GB RAM and a 1 TB hard drive.
The processor has a nominal clock of 2.0 GHz, but can run up to 3.1 GHz. The IdeaPad Z50-70 should be capable of running some more demanding games as well as video and picture editing functions. However, don't expect to play the newest 3D games like Crysis 3 or Thief.
The 15.6 inch display features FHD resolution. However, the display leaves much to be desired with the blurred screen and extremely limited viewing angles. In addition, the speakers do not appear to carry much bass and are soft even at maximum volume.
The Ideapad is equipped with an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, an SD card reader, a stereo jack and a DVD burner. The battery is capable of lasting for about 4 and a half hours of web surfing.

The Lenovo Z50 is the replacement for the Z510. We're talking a 15.6-inch multimedia laptop with a practically identical body. This updated model includes an energy-efficient Haswell processor and a state-of-the-art graphics card. Let's see if the manufacturer has managed to rectify the Z510's awful screen...

The Lenovo Z50-70 is a well-rounded 15-inch laptop with a full-HD display and discrete nVidia graphics that can handle better gaming than many comparable budget laptops. Its build quality is good for the price, and battery life of around five hours, plus sub-2.4 kg weight, makes it more usable as mobile workstation.

This laptop model is an entry-level model for multimedia and gaming and it justifies its purpose: it provides the perfect configuration, beyond reproach. The hybrid hard drive will mean a lot for speeding up booting time and application launching, while the two graphics cards will accelerate what is most important - games and multimedia. Bearing in mind there is a Full HD screen, you will not be able to run the latest or demanding games, but everything else will be a real pleasure thanks to the great configuration.
Positive: Excellent and very flexible configuration; full HD screen; excellent performance; very good autonomy. Negative: Relatively short battery life.

Kaveri @ low cost. The IdeaPad Z50-75 is available for a low 400 Euros (~$501) without a Windows operating system. The buyer gets a quad-core processor, dual-graphics solution from AMD, and a 1 TB hard drive. An irresistible bargain?

Two are better than one. Lenovo only demands 550 Euros (~$669) for its extensively configured IdeaPad Z50-75, which not only features AMD's latest quad-core APU, but also plenty of storage and a total of two graphics chips. Just how well does the dual-graphics technology fare in real-world use?

At less than $400, you may be tempted by the Lenovo Z50-75 Signature Edition's low price. But there are more capable (and more portable) desktop-replacement laptops for not much more money.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

70.33%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
