"Top" designer. Lenovo supplies a 13 inch subnotebook with the latest second generation Intel Core processors with the IdeaPad Z370. In addition to the hardware, a lot of effort has especially been invested in looks. For example, the notebook has a display lid with 3D effect. Is it after all only straining after effect?

The IdeaPad Z370 is a capable notebook for students and home users, with good build quality and eye-catching looks. There aren’t many frills, but with web sales prices starting at $569, you don’t need or expect the world. If you are OK with the so so keyboard layout and poor two finger scrolling, the Z370 is a nice catch, especially at the sale price under $600.

If you like the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 but it's a bit too expensive or you don't need that much graphics power, then the IdeaPad Z370 is worth a look. It's equally capable for schoolwork, MS Office work, as well as playing music and movies. The only thing that it's not suited to is playing highly demanding 3D games like first person shooters. The system isn't thin, but it's small enough to fit easily in a backpack along with your other gear. The second gen Intel Core i5 processor is a good option for this notebook and it comes with all the essential Lenovo software you will see on higher-end systems. The starting price is affordable, and additional options aren't that expensive either. The notebook looks good except that the cover that gets absolutely grimy with fingerprints, and the display viewing angles are limited if you look at the screen from right or bottom.

With moderate usage battery life came in at a very respectable five hours 5 minutes. All in all, gadgetmix heartily recommends the Lenovo IdeaPad Z370. It’s snapping at the heels of the mid-rangers for a very competitive price. Anyone who can’t explain exactly why they’d need a higher-spec notebook than this should buy it.

The Lenovo Z370 packs great performance in a small package with the latest Intel Core i5-2410M CPU with integrated Intel HD 3000 GPU. It’s not targeting business use, especially with its flashy design option in blue, but that doesn’t mean it can’t handle all your work and multitasking needs. It’s 13.3-inch size makes it nice and portable but it is a bit thick and hefty. Also, the battery life is a bit lacking compared to other laptops in this category. Overall build quality and finish looks solid and for a price at around $629, it’s definitely worth considering.

Overall, the IdeaPad Z370 looks to be a very reasonable option if you're on a budget, don't have heavy-duty computing needs, and would like a notebook that does right by movies and music when you're not taking care of routine business or schoolwork.

But bloatware does help subsidize the low price on consumer notebooks, and you can always remove the stuff you don't want (do it before you create the OneKey disc image). What a difference a year makes. Last year when we looked at the Lenovo IdeaPad Z360, we found it “a solid all-purpose thin-and-light laptop for the masses.” Strong performance, an attractive design, and an impressive display make the IdeaPad Z370 an appealing, budget, thin-and-light laptop. But look elsewhere if you don’t like squishy keyboards.

The $629 Lenovo IdeaPad Z370 offers solid overall performance, a fast boot time, and a vivid display wrapped in an eye-catching blue design. However, its poor endurance is a turnoff, expecially for a 13-inch system. While it's not as powerful, the HP Pavilion dm4t offers 7 hours of battery life in an aluminum chassis for $50 less. But overall, the Z370 delivers style, power, and speed in an affordable package.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Z370 may not have one of the more eye catching designs on the market but with its $600 price tag, it offers a very solid 13-inch laptop that mixed portability and performance. Items such as the 2nd generation Core i5 processor give it better battery life and solid performance while the eSATA port and Bluetooth add extra external options not found in many low cost ultraportables.

If $500 is a perfect price, then 13 inches is the perfect size for the ideal home-and-travel laptop. As long as the price stays around $599, the Lenovo IdeaPad Z370 should be a strong consideration for anyone looking for a very good all-around 13-inch laptop, although it's hardly a showstopper.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.

73.62%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
