The IdeaPad Slim 5x has much to offer businesses, particularly smaller businesses where budgets may be tight. It's a stylish, solidly-built, and very usable laptop that doesn't look or feel inexpensive. All the same, it's fallen victim to the same creeping price increases we've seen everywhere this year, and at just over £900, it's not quite as fantastic a value as it would have been for around £800.

I've spent several weeks with this laptop, and I thought I'd be dying to go back to my desktop for full-time work. While I still prefer using my desktop, I don't mind using this IdeaPad for work whatsoever. I love the feel of the keyboard, I love the touch screen, and I love the long battery life. I can easily spend 8+ hours on the couch without having the plug it in from a full charge, which is fantastic.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5x offers solid value for students or office workers looking for a portable, dependable daily driver. It's wholly unobtrusive, in both the positive and negative sense, but it's a good fit for those looking for a productivity machine and want to spend significantly less than $1,000. The problem with the IdeaPad Slim 5x, insofar as there is one, is that it's a middling package overall. While the lows aren't cripplingly low, the highs aren't particularly high. It's got a strong battery, but not the best-in-class. The highlight is the bright, responsive touchscreen, and brighter still is the option to upgrade to a higher-res OLED panel (albeit without touch support) for only an extra $30.

At just $849, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5x Gen 11 is an excellent productivity laptop, especially amongst rising tech costs and shortages. It boasts impressive performance and makes great use of the Snapdragon X2 Plus chip, solidifying it as a reliable machine that nails the basics. Aside from performance, you’ll get a device that’s built to last, not just because of its thoughtful design, but also its surprising 15.5-hour battery life that rivals big competitors like the M5 MacBook Air. The colorful touchscreen display and a diverse lineup of ports only sweeten the already great deal. While the Slim 5x Gen 11 has a performance ceiling for gaming and video editing, casual laptop users won’t be missing out on much. As long as you can deal with a slightly subpar speaker and webcam setup, you’re looking at a fantastic work and travel laptop for the money.

Qualcomm Adreno X2-45: The Qualcomm Adreno X2-45 is an integrated graphics processor that will be included in Snapdragon X2 Plus SoCs starting in January 2026.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
