Previous rumors appear mostly on target if these latest leaks from a mobile service provider prove to be true.

Rumors on the impending Galaxy A8 (SM-A800F) began as early as April where the phablet was expected to have a 5.7-inch 720p AMOLED display. By mid-June, additional speculations seemingly confirmed the rumors. Now, a new leak details even more specifications of the device.

This time, the Galaxy A8 will carry the model name SM-A800S and will make use of a 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display, up from the previous 720p rumors. An 8-core Snapdragon 615 SoC (4x Cortex-A53 at 1.7 GHz + 4x Cortex-A53 at 1.0 GHz) will power the phablet alongside the Adreno 405 GPU.

Other core specifications include Android 5.1, 2 GB RAM, 3050 mAh battery, and 16 GB eMMC with MicroSD support up to 128 GB. The rear and front cameras will be 16 MP and 5 MP, respectively. In terms of weight and dimensions, the Galaxy A8 is expected to be 140 grams and measure 158 x 76.77 x 5.94 mm.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s. When I'm not managing day-to-day activities and US review articles on Notebookcheck, you can catch me following the eSports scene and the latest gaming news.
