Leak reveals waterproof Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Gen 12 with larger display
A few weeks ago, a leak revealed the Amazon Kindle (2024), and now Reddit user gavan820 has published images (embedded below) that allegedly show the upcoming Kindle Paperwhite Gen 12. According to these images, Amazon has hardly changed the design apart from slightly narrower screen edges, but as the text on the back of the packaging shows, the screen diagonal has increased from 6.8 inches to 7 inches.
The display once again has front lighting, the brightness and color temperature of which can be adjusted by the user. Like the previous model, the housing is IPX8 certified, so the Kindle Paperwhite is completely waterproof and can thus be used in a pool, for example. The e-reader again has 16 GB of flash storage.

According to the packaging, the battery lasts “several weeks”, is charged via USB-C with up to 7.5 watts, and a charging cable is included, but not the charger. The business model appears unchanged because, as the label on the packaging shows, the Kindle Paperwhite displays advertisements on the lock screen that can be removed for a fee.
So, according to this box, the slightly larger display is the only change between the Kindle Paperwhite Gen 12 and the 2021 model, although Amazon may still replace the MediaTek MT8110 with a more modern chip, install a larger battery or finally add support for wireless charging to the standard model, which was previously reserved for the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition.
