Leak reveals Apple Watch Series X will feature titanium case, larger displays, and thinner chassis
Apple's highly anticipated 'It's Glowtime' event scheduled for the 9th of this month is expected to feature Apple's upcoming iPhone flagship lineup, alongside a revamped Apple Watch, which is likely to be named the Watch Series X.
Needless to say, there have been a plethora of leaks and rumors surrounding the Watch Series X. The iPhone X which debuted in 2017 was perhaps the biggest redesign of the iPhone in its history, so it is fair to expect an overhaul of similar proportions for the 10th generation of the Apple Watch as well. However, the leaks have been all over the place, with several pieces of information contradicting others.
A recent tweet by reliable tipster Majin Bu has shed light on a whole bunch of improvements and changes that he expects the Series X to witness, which are as follows:
- A bump in size, albeit more modest of a change than previously expected. Will likely be available in 42 mm and 46 mm variants with significantly more rounded corners.
- The display will remain similar to the outgoing Series 9 (currently $305 on Amazon) with curved edges, contradicting previous leaks that hinted at a flat display.
- Stainless steel will be replaced with titanium, as was the case with the iPhone 15 Pro series, and will be available in gold, black, starlight, and an 'original' finish which likely refers to the 'natural titanium' color seen in the iPhone 15 Pro series.
- The Milanese loop, which has remained untouched for a decade, will be refreshed and made from titanium.
- A new 'ceramic' variant of the Apple Watch might also be on the cards.
All in all, these speculated changes appear to be decent improvements for a generational upgrade. Whether or not these modifications will be sufficient to mark the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch is a different story, and the true verdict can only be passed once the Watch Series X gets officially released.
