Huawei is expected to release the Watch GT 5 next month. In the meantime, the company has officially shown some of the smartwatch's features in a teaser video, including a brand new TruSense sensor that could help it surpass its peers in certain areas.

The Watch GT 4 (curr. $269 on Amazon) is almost a year after, having been officially announced last October. Thus, it should as no surprise to learn that Huawei is preparing to introduce a next-generation alternative. As it stands, the Watch GT 5 is expected to launch next month, presumably to coincide with the introduction of Apple's Watch Series 10 generation.

While Apple continues to keep its next smartwatch under wraps, Huawei has already shared a teaser video for the Watch GT 5. Embedded below, the video showcases Huawei's new 'TruSense' sensor, which appears to build last year's 'TruSeen 5.5' inside the Watch GT 4. Predictably, Huawei claims the TruSense contains various improvements over its previous sensors.

Specifically, the company asserts that the new sensor is faster and more precise than previous equivalents. Moreover, TruSense should be capable of monitoring blood pressure and skin temperature, although we suspect Huawei will reserve the former for the next Watch D. On top of that, Huawei highlights usual features like heart rate and menstrual cycling tracking.

However, it also mentions the option of tracking calories. Seemingly capable of monitoring active and passive calorie consumption, TruSense can adjust its metrics to reflect the volume of calories eaten, too. Moreover, Huawei has shown 'Health Glance' as well, which is said to provide up to ten health metrics within sixty seconds, whether that be sleep apnea or hyperglycemia, among other things. Unsurprisingly, Huawei's next mainstream smartwatch will also sport a circular design, plus a digital crown and a secondary hardware button.
