LeEco Le 2 Max smartphone sells out in under a minute
According to Gizmochina, the recently announced Le 2 Max smartphone sold out in just 57 seconds while the rest of the Le 2 series sold out in the two hours that followed. LeEco made available its first batch of smartphones through a flash sale on its online store. Whether or not the Le 2 series will launch internationally, however, remains to be seen.
The Le 2 Max offers high-end hardware including a Snapdragon 820 SoC and with support for multiple LTE bands to rival flagships from the likes of Samsung, LG, and Apple for a significantly lower price. Nonetheless, the LeEco is notable for its complete omission of the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack due in part to its super-slim 8 mm form factor.
In an interview with CNBC, CEO Jia Yueting criticized Apple for its slowing innovation and waning sales in China. In particular, Yueting was targeting the recent iPhone SE as he sees the smartphone as nothing more than just an attempt to drive up sales without any innovation. Apple recently announced a sales drop of 26 percent in China compared to Q2 2015.
LeEco also recently unveiled an electric car targeted at Tesla and to better establish the company in the Chinese automotive sector.
