A new leak now seems to indicate that Sony could slightly raise the prices of its upcoming Xperia 1 VII flagship smartphone. Supposedly, the Xperia 1 VII is set to launch with a price tag equivalent to a €45 increase on last year's phone.

Sony will announce its latest flagship, the Xperia 1 VII, on May 13. Details of the phone have leaked comprehensively over the past week, and a new leak has now revealed pricing information ahead of its debut.

Going by word coming out of Hong Kong, Sony is preparing to sell the Xperia 1 VII in that market for $10,899. That figure is, of course, in HKD not USD, and is for the 512 GB model of the flagship. Comparatively, the 512 GB Xperia 1 VI was priced at $10,499 in Hong Kong when it launched last year.

If those numbers are anything to go by, it appears the Xperia 1 VII could be up to $400 more expensive in Hong Kong, which converts into about €45, and it wouldn't be surprising to see a price hike in that range applied on the European market. Several flagship devices launched with increased prices this year—in part due to the higher unit costs of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset—and the Xperia 1 VII could be the latest on the list.
