LG's Gram laptops are slim and lightweight. Under the name LG Gram Pro, the manufacturer is now launching a laptop to top it all off. It is even slimmer, more lightweight and has even more power at its disposal.

A gorgeous big-screen laptop that seems unfeasibly thin and light, though the optional dedicated GPU doesn’t add much to the party.

In a market of dozens of 2-in-1 laptops that were released this year, the LG Gram Pro 16 2-in-1 is one of the more expensive options, but it's absolutely worth it for consumers that want to hit high marks on the trifecta of laptop features: ultraportability, a gorgeous OLED display, and strong performance. There are some tradeoffs with its extremely lightweight design, but for the majority of users, the pros outweigh the cons. If the $2,000-plus price point is out of your budget, there are a few other options to consider. The Acer Swift Edge 16 features the same sized OLED screen and weighs slightly more at 2.73 pounds, but will only cost you $1,300.

For a long time, LG's laptops have impressed with their lightweight design and excellent display but, when it comes to computing power, LG hasn't exactly blown us away. The Gram Pro 2-in-1 shows that LG can also make powerful laptops. Only the weight remains area in which the manufacturer continues to be economical.

The LG Gram Pro 16 2-in-1 is in a competitive market with its roughly $2,000 price point for top-end configurations. You don’t get to the “world’s lightest 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop” without costing some serious R&D, so while the cost isn’t shocking, it does mean that you have some solid alternatives if a little extra weight or dropping the 2-in-1 form factor doesn’t bother you. Still, there’s no question the Gram Pro 16 2-in-1 belongs among our best ultrabooks and best 2-in-1 laptops, but it comes up shy of the best laptops. The mushy trackpad, overheating, and price point are the biggest downsides to me. The rest of it comes down to the Gram Pro hitting good, but not great, numbers outside of that astounding OLED display.

Overall, using the LG Gram Pro 16 is a pleasant experience. It’s easy to carry from place to place, has a healthy battery life to keep from being tethered to a wall outlet all day, and that brilliant OLED is captivating, impressing us throughout each benchmark and casual user test. That said, disappointing performance and unpleasant audio make us wary of its large price tag. For $2,099, you could buy the Apple MacBook Air 15 M2 (a lightweight laptop with fantastic audio and a rich display) or the 2023 HP Pavilion Plus 16 (a Windows machine with a slim design, laudable battery, and clear screen) and still have plenty of cash left over. The only thing you'd be missing is a touchscreen, which can also be had via the impressive Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 or the surprisingly practical Asus Zenbook Duo for less money. None of these options boast a display quite as large as the Gram Pro 16, however, so if screen size is a big sell for you, this 2-in-1 could be worth the extra money.

The LG gram Pro 16 2-in-1 is currently the lightest 16” convertible laptop on the market. At 3.08 lbs. / 1.4kg, this laptop that turns into a tablet might not be too thick and heavy for extended use for note taking and drawing. It’s powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with up to 32GB RAM and 2TB storage. The 3K OLED 120Hz display is stunning and it supports touch and the included full size pen. It competes with the HP Spectre x360 16” and Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360.

With all the talk of Microsoft Copilot+ and Windows on Arm, it’s easy to forget that most laptops today are still powered by Intel’s Meteor Lake chipset. And they’re viable laptops, particularly if you need a machine that doesn’t yet equip Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite. The LG Gram 16 2-in-1 is one such laptop, offering a large display in a very portable package. And when I say “portable,” I mean it. The LG Gram 16 2-in-1 is incredibly thin and light while packing in a gorgeous 16-inch high-res OLED display. It’s meant for people who want a lot of screen real estate but don’t want to carry around a thick and heavy laptop. In that respect, the LG Gram 16 2-in-1 delivers, although it had some important flaws to consider before you go out and buy it.

LG’s Gram Pro 2-in-1 16 stands out among 16-inch convertibles as a master of many trades. Low weight and excellent battery life make it travel-friendly, the Core Ultra H-class CPU provides potent performance, and its OLED display looks sublime. Its convertible mode, complete with a stylus, adds even more versatility. While you'll find more economical big-screen laptops, few provide the luxuries and innovation packed into this LG. This complete and versatile package earns the LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 16 our Editors' Choice award for big-screen 2-in-1 laptops.

If you're looking for more budget-friendly options, the Acer Swift Edge 16 features the same sized OLED screen and weighs slightly more at 2.73 pounds, but will only cost you $1,300.

It's been ten years since LG introduced its Gram line of ultra thin and light laptops, and despite my early skepticism about its longevity and build quality, the company continues to make new models regularly. It's expanded the portfolio to offer pro variants, clamshells and 2-in-1s, and in keeping with every laptop maker in recent years, LG is now infusing the Gram Pros with more of its own... you guessed it... AI.

The LG Gram Pro 16 is an excellent Windows ultrabook thanks to its wonderful portability, solid power and fantastic endurance against key rivals. The high-res IPS screen is good too, as is its wide port selection. Just watch out for its rather high price tag. With this in mind, for a similar price, the Asus Zenbook S 16 (2024) offers more power and a gorgeous frame, as well as an OLED screen, for around the same kind of money, at the expense of less battery life. This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
